Sport Pilot in DFW
The largest Light Sport rental fleet in North Texas. KDTO. No medical required.
Sport pilots in Dallas-Fort Worth have always had the same problem: certificate in hand, no airplane to fly. Flight schools are built around 172s and Cherokees that require a medical. A4 is built around modern Light Sport aircraft that don't. Members fly Jabiru J230 and J250 LSA from Denton Enterprise Airport (KDTO) at sport pilot rates.
All three aircraft in the A4 fleet meet current US Light Sport Aircraft criteria and are flyable on a sport pilot certificate without a medical (driver's license medical applies).

A current US driver's license satisfies the medical requirement. If your last FAA medical was denied, suspended, or revoked, sport pilot rules don't apply — confirm with an AME.
Sport pilots fly day VFR only, below 10,000' MSL (or 2,000' AGL whichever is higher), with one passenger. Cross-country is permitted with the cross-country endorsement.
Class B, C, and D airspace require a one-time CFI endorsement. KDTO is Class D — your checkout flight covers it. Class B (DFW, Love Field) takes an extra endorsement.
FAA's MOSAIC rule expands what sport pilots can fly — bigger airframes, retractable gear, more horsepower. The Jabiru J230 and J250 already qualify under current rules and remain qualified under MOSAIC.
Sport pilot is the fastest, cheapest path to a real US pilot certificate — and it's been chronically underserved in North Texas. The handful of LSAs that have appeared on DFW rental lines over the years tend to be a single ex-trainer at a flight school, booked solid by primary students.
A4 runs a dedicated three-airplane Light Sport fleet specifically for rated pilots. The aircraft are not used for primary training. That means availability — you can actually book a 6 AM cross-country on Saturday — and consistent maintenance posture instead of the abuse pattern of an everyday trainer.
$100/month membership. From $110/hr dry. Sport pilot or higher. Members-only.
